For Your Family
Your Neurodivergent Adult Child Deserves Their Own Forever Home
A Home That Grows Equity For Their Future
Front Porch Cohousing creates Coliving Homes in a Neuroinclusive Planned Community where adults with autism, Down syndrome, cerebral palsy, and other I/DD conditions thrive with dignity, independence, and belonging.
We believe every adult deserves a home where they can flourish — and build real equity for their future. Our coliving model combines the independence of individual living with the supportive services and community of shared spaces, all designed with neurodiversity in mind.

Maya is 27. She bags groceries, rides the bus, and lives with her aging mother in a two-bedroom house. There is almost nowhere for her to go.
She is not one person. She is 11,462.

You Already Know This
The fear isn't just about housing.
It's about loneliness.
If you're a parent of an adult with an I/DD, you've asked the question that keeps you up at night: “Who will care for them when I'm gone? Will they be lonely?”
“Loneliness is my least favourite thing about life. The thing that I'm most worried about is just being alone without anybody to care for or someone who will care for me.”
Anne Hathaway—Academy Award-winning actress, Interview Magazine
Sound familiar?
Anne Hathaway's fear is universal. For your adult child with an I/DD, it isn't a fear of the future — it's often a present reality. Research shows 79% of autistic individuals report experiencing social isolation.
Most adults with I/DD live with aging parents who share the same dread. When those parents are no longer there, the alternative is rarely a home. It's a waiting list, a group home bed, or an institution — places designed around management, not belonging.
Front Porch Cohousing was built by parents who asked these same questions — and decided to build the answer. A home your adult child owns, neighbors who know their name, and a life built around belonging.

The Conversation at Every Kitchen Table
The fear doesn't go away.
It just gets louder with age.
Research on aging parents of adults with ASD found that every single parent believed their child would be “vulnerable and isolated” without them. Most were actively searching for alternatives — private caregivers, sibling arrangements, group homes — but had no plan they were confident in.
This is the conversation happening at kitchen tables across Bucks County and across America. Not “where will they live?” but “will anyone love them when we're gone? Will they be lonely? Will they be safe?"
Front Porch Cohousing was founded by parents who asked those same questions — and decided to build the answer instead of waiting for one.
“I can't force my children to take him as their own child. We are planning to set up a basement for him so when we are not there, he has a place to live."

Why Choose Front Porch?
Our neuroinclusive planned community model is being built on principles of independence, community, and dignity. Here's what will set us apart.
True Independence
A private home your adult child owns — not rents — with personalized support. Not a congregate group home. Your adult child maintains autonomy and builds real equity.
Real Community
Intentional community design fosters genuine friendships, shared meals, and meaningful social connections with peers and neighbors.
Dignity & Choice
Residents make decisions about their lives, activities, and daily routines. We support their choices, not control them.
Safety & Compliance
Full compliance with ODP Guidelines. Transparent operations, regular assessments, and person-centered planning ensure quality care.
Skill Development
Individualized programming supports growth in daily living skills, employment, and community participation at each resident's pace.
Family Partnership
We work closely with families as partners in planning and decision-making. Your voice matters in your adult child's life.
Our Foundation
Our Core Principles
Everything we do is guided by these foundational values.
Person-Centered
Every decision starts with the individual — their preferences, strengths, goals, and dreams.
Neurodiversity-Affirming
We celebrate neurodiversity and design communities that work with different neurotypes, not against them.
Community-Based
Residents are part of the broader community, not isolated. We foster connections with neighbors and local resources.
Transparent & Accountable
Full compliance with all regulations and regular communication with families about operations and outcomes.
Sustainable
Designed for long-term viability so residents have stability and families have peace of mind.

What Families Say
Hear from families who have found peace of mind and whose adult children have found home.
For the first time in years, I feel like I can breathe. Knowing that our child will have a real home — in a real community — takes a weight off me I didn't realize I was carrying.
We've been part of the design process from the beginning, and that has meant everything. Our child's future home is being built with them in mind. That's not something we ever thought was possible.
I used to lie awake wondering what would happen when I'm gone. Now I have an answer. A home they own, neighbors who know them, and a community designed for them to thrive.
On Belonging
Why Connection Matters
Thinkers, researchers, and public figures on the human need for community — and what happens when it's missing.
“Loneliness does not come from having no people about one, but from being unable to communicate the things that seem important to oneself, or from holding certain views which others find inadmissible.”
“Connection is why we're here. It is what gives purpose and meaning to our lives.”
“Loneliness is far more than just a bad feeling — it harms both individual and societal health. It is associated with a greater risk of cardiovascular disease, dementia, stroke, depression, anxiety, and premature death.”
Front Porch Cohousing doesn't promise to solve loneliness. We build the community where connection becomes possible.

Why Ownership Matters
Building a Legacy,
Not Just a Residence
For too long, the only housing options for neurodivergent adults have been rentals or group homes — arrangements that provide shelter but not ownership, proximity but not belonging, compliance but not dignity. Hilltown Oaks changes the narrative entirely.
Shared Equity
Our co-op structure allows your adult child to own a stake in their home — building real equity over time, just like any homeowner. Not rent paid into someone else's pocket.
Professional Oversight
Each neuroinclusive home has a dedicated House Manager — a Natural Support system backed by the long-term stability of the Front Porch Cohousing mission. Support that is always there.
The "Life After Us" Guarantee
Professional management, funded financial reserves, and a legally structured community ensure your family has peace of mind — not just today, but for the decades ahead.

Historical Context
The Unfinished Promise
In 1978, Pennsylvania's landmark Halderman v. Pennhurst case established a constitutional right to community-based care. The state closed its institutions. The community infrastructure to replace them was never built. 11,462 Pennsylvanians are still waiting. Hilltown Oaks is part of the answer.
