Who We Are

A Diverse, Intentional Community

Our community is home to adults with autism, Down syndrome, cerebral palsy, and other intellectual and developmental disabilities — living alongside neurotypical neighbors who share a commitment to inclusion, mutual support, and meaningful connection.

Daily life at Front Porch Cohousing is enriched by spontaneous conversations on the front porch, shared meals in the common house, collaborative gardening projects, and countless opportunities for connection and friendship.

We celebrate our differences while finding common ground in our shared values and vision for a more connected way of living.

Daily Life

A Day in the Life

Morning

Starting the Day Together

Mornings often begin with neighbors greeting each other on their way to work or activities. The community garden buzzes with early risers tending to shared plots. Coffee is shared on the front porch as the neighborhood comes alive.

Afternoon

Community in Action

Afternoons bring collaborative projects, skill-building workshops, and community activities. Residents pursue employment, volunteer work, and personal interests — supported by staff who respect their autonomy and choices.

Evening

Gathering & Connection

Evenings bring us together for shared meals in the common house, where cooking teams prepare dinner for the community. After dinner, some gather for games or music, while others retreat to their private homes for quiet time.
